INTERNATIONAL DISTANCE EDUCATION

Broadcast Date: Tuesday, January 15, 2002

Watch the archived webcast.

From the use of the first communications satellites in the Asia-Pacific region in the 1970s for educational radio broadcasts to today’s converging media on the ‘Net, distance learning has expanded globally—with some countries more advanced than others. U.S. practitioners have been accused of myopia—ignoring the initiatives, effective practices and technological advances elsewhere in the world. What can we learn from the current and future efforts of campus and corporate providers outside of the US/North America? Which projects are successfully overcoming the real demise of boundaries? The demand for relevant content, real-time processes, and certification courseware is exploding. Where are we heading in the Globalization of E-learning and what really works for the Global Learner?

Join us for a conversation with leaders in government, the education community, and the technology industry about the current state and future directions of education and technology policy and initiatives.
