Hae Okimoto directs the Academic Technology Services unit within the University of Hawaii’s Information Technology Services (ITS) office. In this position, Hae sets the direction and provides the overall leadership, planning, organization, coordination, and evaluation of distributed learning and all IT support services for instruction, research, public service and administration. She has responsibility for the development of short- and long-range plans and the development of system-wide policies that anticipate and incorporate emerging any and all technologies and services related to the provision of core IT support services. In addition, she serves as the most senior technical advisor to senior executives and managers in matters relating to distributed learning and technology support.

Hae has been actively involved in technology facilitated outreach or distance learning at the University of Hawaii since its inception in 1990. The number of programs, courses and enrollments has grown from those early days of 2 programs, 2 courses, and 64 students to more than 12 programs, 250 courses and 5000 students. The University of Hawaii uses ITFS, public access cable, and the Internet to deliver its programs throughout the state and internationally.
